Obscure glass
Glass that has been made translucent instead of transparent and is
available in many different patterns.
Origin II™
The virgin uPVC vinyl used in all Alside windows.
The material’s low thermal conductivity makes it the best choice for window
manufacturing. Will not rot, peel, blister, swell or deteriorate from corrosion
or pitting.
Ovolo
A convex profile; usually a quarter section of a circle, as in the
profile of quarter-round.
Operator
The hardware mechanism used to open and close a window, excluding the
hinges.
Operating Sash
An assembly comprised of stiles (vertical pieces), rails (horizontal
pieces), and a window’s glass that opens and closes.
Operator Track
The metal track at the bottom of the sash where the roller on the end of
the operator arm slides to open and close the sash.
Over/Under Shim
When the side jamb bows in or out because of excessive or insufficient
shim material used between the window or door frame and the rough opening during
installation.
